You choose your photo, press upload, and the form says it is invalid. The message is often vague. Here are the usual causes and what to do about each one.

1. The file is too big

This is the most common reason. A phone photo is usually much larger than a form allows. Fix: resize it with the photo and signature resizer and enter the maximum size from the form.

2. The file is too small

Some forms also set a minimum size. After a heavy resize, the picture can fall under it. Fix: enter the minimum size as well, and the tool pads the file to reach it without changing how the picture looks.

3. The size in pixels is wrong

If the form states a width and height, a picture of a different shape may be rejected. Fix: type the exact width and height in the resizer, and choose how to deal with the different shape: fill the frame, fit inside, or stretch.

4. The file type is not accepted

Many forms accept only JPG. iPhone photos can be HEIC, and some pictures are PNG or WebP. Fix: the resizer accepts JPG, PNG and WebP and always saves a JPG. For HEIC, set your iPhone camera to Most Compatible, or export the photo as JPG first.

5. The photo is sideways

A photo can look right in your gallery and appear rotated on a form. Fix: use the rotate buttons in the resizer, check the preview, then download.

6. The picture is too blurry or dark

Some portals check the picture by eye, and a blurred or dark photo can be sent back. Fix: retake the photo in daylight, and use a smaller width and height rather than a very heavy compression.

7. A scanned PDF is too large

If the form wants a PDF, scanned pages can be large. Fix: when you merge your photos into one PDF, choose Low image quality to make the file smaller.

8. The upload itself fails

Sometimes the file is fine and the problem is the portal or your connection. Try another browser, clear the page and upload again, or try again later when the site is less busy.

A quick way to find the problem

  1. Write down every limit the form lists: size in KB, size in pixels, and file type.
  2. Check each one against your file in the resizer’s preview.
  3. Fix the one that does not match, and upload again.

Always follow the limits on your own form. They differ between forms and can change.

Fix your photo: Open the photo and signature resizer
